Customer supplied: Text copy only, and told us to see what we could come up with.
Our contribution: Layout, artwork, and typography.
How license plate was created: No existing artwork was available for the customer’s church, and we first considered utilizing a “gate” motif. Then we noticed a graphically strong leaf dingbat available in the earthy, rough-cut type font we had selected, shifting the focus to the word “life.” Substituting the leaf for the wordspace between the main two words, then coloring it green — both for symbolic meaning and visual contrast — offered a nice solution, giving the name a “logo” look and good memorability.
As a point of lesser focus, the city and state were set perpendicularly along the right side to allow maximal usage of vertical space for up-sizing the primary text.
