Customer supplied: Text copy, existing logo, basic color scheme, and rough layout idea as a Microsoft Publisher file.
Our contribution: Additional layout design plus typography.
How license plate was created: Since the logo wasn’t convertible to the needed EPS vector format from the supplied format, it was manually traced and rebuilt with a vector drawing program. The original logo contained black (the flower petal edges plus drop shadow), for a total of four ink colors. With the customer’s consent we replaced black with red (for petal edges) and with the dark royal blue (drop shadow) to reduce the number of ink colors and the order cost.
Overlapping the church name across the bottom of the logo (using a white outline around the type for separation) enabled the logo to be sized as large as vertical space would allow. Typeface selection for the message text was based on desired characteristics of a “spirited”/airy feel.
Ink colors: Pantone Basic Yellow, 185 Red, and 286 Royal Blue
Typeface: Arid Script (message), Orbon (church name)
