For states that don’t allow your own full-size front plates, or situations where you can’t remove your current plate, we offer half-size license plates. (Known variously as rider plates, tag toppers, half-high plates, etc.)

Half-plates are 12x4” in size and utilize either .032-gauge aluminum or .040-gauge aluminum (thicker than common .024-gauge stock) for extra rigidity in top and bottom-mounting.

Standard top-mount as well as bottom-mount configurations available. And, you can split your order between top and bottom-mount plates in whatever quantities of each you need.

Three full usable vertical inches without borders getting chopped off. Unlike some half-plates, tag holes are carefully positioned within the one-inch mounting flange to ensure a full 3 inches of visible/usable space once the tag is mounted on your full plate.

With some half-size plates, when the one-inch flange is slid behind and screwed onto the back of a full-size license plate, you might find the actual overlap is as much as 1-1/4”. The cause: poor tag hole placement on the flange. As a result, the printed border or other artwork along the adjoining edge of your plate can be partially obscured.

All artwork remains fully visible on our half-plates without getting chopped off or looking sloppy — an extra detail that keeps you looking your best.

Custom imprints for team members. If you need to customize plates with specific titles for different members of your team (firefighter license plates, most commonly), we can do imprinting for an easy-to-figure additional charge.
