LICENSE PLATE FONTS OF NORTH AMERICA

First USA  |  Mid-1990s, Brand Design Co./House Industries, discontinued, included for historical interest.

First USA font specimen (full alphabet)

Font consists of: Single weight with minimal punctuation.

About this typeface: Offered by House Industries at one time but has since disappeared. One reason may be the limited character set containing only uppercase alpha characters and numbers (though including a full set of alternate numerics as well), plus only a very few punctuation/ auxiliary characters. Also, the 3D embossing effect could have been done better, though is admittedly a difficult thing to achieve with substantial realism in just 2D in black-and-white.

Today, House Industries is a top-flight foundry with high standards for their typefaces, so it should probably be no surprise this face was discontinued.
